Hey you,
I hope you’re doing well? In this post I’ll talk about 10 ways that I practice self care that help me maximize my days and avoid getting burnt out.
Ways I practice self care for my physical body
One of the most important reasons of self care is to care for my body. I only have one body and I wanna make sure it stays healthy for as long as possible.
Here are a few ways I practice self care for my physical body:
- Moving my body; even though I’m not your gym bro, I do make sure to move my body daily to avoid getting into funks.
- Getting my nails done; once a month I treat myself by getting my nails done. It’s not a must to get your nails done, but this is a way I treat my body well and that has an impact on the things that I do. For those who want to know, I get them done by @nailsandcoffee (NO THIS IS NOT SPONSORED), she just does a really good job.
- Taking care of my body; whether it’s facials, scrubs, massages or hair care. Things that help my body glow at its best and most importantly be healthy. By doing this I’m trying to honour the body that I’ve been given
- Watching what I eat; there are so many things that I can eat, but not everything has a good effect on my body, so I make sure to watch out when it comes to what I eat. I try to only eat things that boost my energy, help my body function well and make me feel happy, sometimes that includes ice cream or pizza :p.
All of the things that I do are based on 1 Corinthians 3:16-17.
Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?
If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.

Pracicing self care for your mental health
- Journalling; I use this method to process all of the thoughts that are going through my mind. Your thoughts have too much power over the direction you’ll be going in life, so it’s important to have control over them. By journalling I’ve found that it’s helped me take control over my thoughts, while allowing them to pass. By writing them all down I’m also not walking around with 1000 ideas while trying to focus on one thing.
- Reading; a way to feed my mind. Reading is one of the main ways I accumulate new knowledge
Self care for your emotional health
- Movie nights; I schedule in a movie night at least once a month. Whether I do it at home or go to the cinema with friends. Watching movies is something that helps shape how I view things in life.
- Resting days; honestly having days where I do absolutely nothing are days that help me rejuvinate my entire being.
- Karaoke; This is also something that I do for enjoyment. To remind myself why I’m working hard. I work hard to be able to enjoy myself.
Self care for your spiritual health
These are ways I take care of my spiritual health
- Listening to the word; it could be through a message, audio bible, worship music or a God-centered conversation. immersing myself in the Word transforms me on a spiritual level, which over time often transcends to my mental, emotional and physical being as well
- Worship; Could be music or prayer. The goal is setting my focus on things that are above. By focusing on things of the Kingdom, I have found that my problems often become so much smaller. Not in a degrading way, but in an “I got this” way. Giving me the strength that even though it’s too much for me, God is still in control. If I do what I can, God will do the rest.
