Hey there,
I hope you’ve been well? You read the title right, this post is about the Ed Sheeran concert 2022 in Brussels.
On Friday I went to the Ed Sheeran concert in Brussels. It was such an amazing experience! It was my first time at a big concert.
I didn’t think I was going to be able to go to the concert because all of the tickets were sold out for this weekend, but then…
21/07/2022 @2pm – Jana’s birthday gathering
It was the Belgian National holiday and one of my friend’s birthday gathering. We met up with 8 girls and had a fun time in the afternoon, doing the usual things girls do. From laughing, to talking to photo roulette, it was so much fun!
At one point one of the girls gets a message from a friend of hers asking if anyone is up to go to the Ed Sheeran concert the next day. I was quite surprised, but I didn’t react immediately. None of the other girls seemed super excited and they already had plans
She mentioned that she wasn’t goinig to go, but that whoever wanted could go. I asked her if she had other information about it, but she said no.
So, I decided to leave it, because there was no way I could afford the ticket anyways. I was quite bummed out about it, but okay, I wasn’t going to die.
22/07/2022 @10am – Morning blues
That morning, I was quite tired and a little overwhelmed by my to do list. I called my mom and asked her for advice on the things that I was struggling with. After that I decided to get my day started.
While working I remembered that the tickets were still available and because it was on my bucket list to go and see him live, I couldn’t shake it off that easily.
After some minutes of hesitation, I decided to text my friend again about the tickets and found out there were still available.
I contacted the person and got more information on the tickets, after I found out that they were selling it for only a fraction of the price, I had decided. I was going to buy a ticket.
I didn’t want to go by myself, so I asked around if someone wanted to go, luckily my best friend didn’t have anything to do that night, so she was like hmmm, okay.
22/07/2022 @6:20pm – Headed to the concert
As per usual, the busses were running late, so we weren’t sure whether we were going to manage to get our train in time. When we finally got to the train station, we discovered that the train was late as well, so we were able to get onto the train. Sadly, we missed our bus in Brussels and had to wait 20 minutes for the next one. Which made us late to the Ed Sheeran concert.
Honestly I still couldn’t believe it… I was on my way to a concert… An Ed Sheeran concert at that! I was super hyped up, we listened to various albums the whole way to the concert.
22/07/2022 @8:40pm – Arrival at the Ed sheeran concert
We finally arrived at the Ed Sheeran concert! From the place where we dropped off to our places in the stadium we had to walk another 10 minutes, luckily with how loud the music was, we were able to listen to him sing while speed walking to the entrance of the stadium.
One of the best things I discovered as we arrived at the stadium is that he really sings as good as on the recordings. It was funny to watch him change guitar almost every song. All in all, the moment I entered the concert, I knew it was worth it!
22/07/2022 @9:30pm – Toilet break
Sooo, you must be wondering why I added the toilet break to the story of the Ed Sheeran concert.
It’s because there wasn’t any hahaha. Every time we tried to go to the toilet, Ed Sheeran would play a song that we couldn’t resist and we’d be forced to go back to the podium and dance along. This happened for a good hour. Then we finally decided we would settle for hearing the song from the bathroom.
22/07/2022 @9:50pm – The favorite song
At one point in the Ed Sheeran concert he mentioned his favorite song… I was so touched, because it was my favorite as well! Seeing him play that song live was a dream come true. I never thought I’d ever see him play it live, so that moment was so special to me.
The song he played is a song that I sometimes play when I’m feeling emotional and can’t sleep. When all my other methods don’t work, I always play this song and it soothes me to sleep.
The song he played was Perfect. I’ve loved this song since the moment it came out. I was soo touched, I only recorded a few seconds of it, because I was enjoying the moment.
22/07/2022 @10:15m – The end of the Ed Sheeran concert
Towards the end of the Ed Sheeran concert, we were sad that it was already almost over. He was playing the last song, sadly one of the songs that I didn’t know well, so my friend and I decided to leave the concert during the last song. Luckily, we did, because we wanted to be sure that we were able to get on a train home and we only had a 3 trains left.
We left in time knowing that we’d definitely make it back in time, yet it took us over an hour to get a taxi to go to the trainstation. We first wanted to take a bus, but there was no bus passing there due to the concert, so we had to take a taxi.
So we walked about 1km down the road trying to find another bus station, but all of them are out of service. So we started looking for an Uber, but there were no Ubers in the neighbourhood and when we found one it kept getting cancelled.
There were many people struggling to to get taxi’s, so it was a competitive time.
Meanwhile my phone was less than 10%, I knew we needed a taxi quickly or else we wouldn’t make it. Yeah, I forgot to charge my phone fully before going due to the spontaneity of the activity.
22/07/2022 @12:45am – Headed home
The train ride home
You’d think the story would end after the Ed Sheeran concert, but there was more.
When we arrived at the train station, we thought we only had to wait 30 minutes for our train, but our train was delayed for almost 15 minutes. When we finally got onto the train most of the train was full, so there were no places to sit. To add to it, there were some drunk students who were on their way back from the Gentse feesten and were going to party in Leuven. So they were keeping the atmosphere lively in the train.
22/07/2022 @1am – The walk home
As I was walking home, I bumped into my best friend Alpha and his friend Zakaria. And they were kind enough to listen to my dopanine overload about the Ed Sheeran concert and walked me home.
The entire night was such a blessing and I’m still so grateful that I was able to experience it. I wouldn’t have done it any other way & I’m really happy and grateful I get to spend this summer doing different activities.
