Hey you,
If you’ve been struggling with mood swings and are about to give up, then this one is for you.
Stretching is never easy, but if you want to grow you have to stretch. The hardest moments are what you should do when you’ve been stretching this long and it feels too tough to hold on? It’s when you’ve been pushing hard, but the results are not yet visible. When the doubts get too serious and logic is trying to overcome the vision.
By faith and not by sight
In the season you’re walking by faith and not by sight, mood swings tend to happen very often. It’s those moments that you’re stressing about whether you’re doing it right. Those times that you start to wonder whether you’re strong and capable enough. The moments you start comparing your path with your friend’s path. Behind all the negativity and doubt you still find yourself believing that there are things that’ll go well!
The one moment your motivation level is 100 and after 3 seconds later you’re crying and saying “ I don’t think I can do it”. When this happens, it’s important to know that from the moment you’re called to do something, you will have the grace, favor and means to do what you need to do.
If you’re wondering why you need to go through the pain and all the doubt within, it’s to strengthen your mind and heart. Why you may ask? Because when you’re out in this world many people will doubt you and your ventures. Many people will doubt the things that you’re wanting to do, but you should stay steadfast in the things that you’re going to do.
Remember in the end the view will be worth the climb, watching the sun rise and set from there will be worth the struggles of climbing up there.
Whenever you go through mood swings, remember that it is training to strengthen your mind and heart muscles for the big fight!
How to deal with mood swings?
Now to get practical, how should you deal with your mood swings when they come up?
While learning how to deal with mood swings, you will need to have a lot of patience, this is not something that will happen overnight. This is a journey that you will walk on daily. It will take some time before you see results, so be graceful with yourself.
Asses how you’re feeling
Ask yourself the following questions to identify the mood swings and what’s going on on the inside:
- What do I feel?
- What triggered the feeling?
- What do I want to do with this feeling?
- Are there other ways to look at the situation?
- What is the truth of the matter, objectively speaking?
Remember the why
It’s also important to know where you’re headed. Choose 1 path and stick with it until it works out. Even if it’ll first feel like you’re losing out, just stick to the goal.
Another tip on how to deal with mood swings is by making sure you have the vision on a paper. Let it be something you look at daily. Remind yourself daily of where you’re headed so that at all times you know WHY you’re doing what you’re doing. Every now and then you’ll need to have a reset so that you can take time to intentionally focus on your goals and to check how much progress you’ve made. To celebrate the little wins and see how you can work smarter in the future.
You’re not alone in this journey
Moreover it’s crucial that you know that you’re not alone in this journey, even if everyone else seems to be ahead of you, it doesn’t mean you’re not on the right path. It doesn’t mean that you’re behind. Know that you’re exactly where you need to be right now and keep pushing.
When you feel scared, keep working scared, with the belief that it’ll all work out for the better.
Rest assured
Lastly, it’s important to have a balanced schedule in which you take at least 1 day in the week to rest. Rest is important for long term growth. If you train too much, you will break the muscle. So make sure that there’s one day in the week where you let go and sleep and spend time with family and friends.
Remember that whatever stage you’re in, you got this! Do not be discouraged by the situation.
