This is a post about Hallyu Town 2023.
2 weeks ago, I went to Hallyu Town, the Korean culture festival in Brussels. I went with three friends and it was my first time ever! On the day itself, I did not want to wake up early to go, but thanks to my persistent roommate, I got ready on time and we left. We arrived just after 11 at place de Brouckere .
When we got there I was shocked, because there weren’t many people there. I expected it to be flooded from morning to evening, so when I only saw a couple of people there, I thought, “it’s probably not as big as I thought it’d be”. Very soon after that, I realized that it was a blessing in disguise because we got to tour all the stands first and get some fun goodies, but oh boy, I was wrong! In the afternoon, there were so many people, but before we get there, here are the fun goodies:
At Hallyu town they had a Korean cooking class where they showed us how to cook two recipes.
- Joomeok Bap = Korean Rice balls
- Kimchi Jeon = Kimchi pancakes
After watching the cooking we had the opportunity to taste what they had made, it was sooo good, and we got to take the recipes home. If you want to make some yourself, here are the recipes: (these recipes are not are by Yun’s Kitchen)

During lunch hour we grabbed some food: I had spicy chicken with rice, it was really good. I just wasn’t used to the amount of oil that was used.
While we waited for the performances to start we went shopping and passed through another cup sleeve event. I didn’t know the group personally, but we had some good Boba I only got Boba, so sadly I don’t have a clothing haul or anything.
In the afternoon we watched 4 K-pop dance cover groups perform, it was the beginning of my inner child being super excited! There were quite a number of 2nd Gen songs there, so I was really excited! I honestly didn’t expect it to be that good. I had so much fun watching the 4 groups perform that day. Made me want to learn how to dance, lol.
Then as if the day couldn’t get better, I saw my first live K-pop performance and I loved it! There were 4 performances in total:
- CSR
- Onlyoneof
- Paul Kim
- E-seok
I really enjoyed them! The only thing that was really weird was realizing that every girl in CSR was born in 2005… To me, it is really young, but I wish them the best! They did have good music that I’d let my younger sister listen to!
After that I saw Paul Kim, honestly hearing K-Drama OST’s in real life sung to me hit different, it brought me back to the storylines and made me feel like I was living my own K-Drama. Sadly, it started raining really hard while he was performing, so we ended up leaving earlier than we thought.
In conclusion, I had the best day! I would definitely do it again! Having days in which you go out and do something fun for one day is really worth it! It’s a way to enrich your life, your knowledge and experiences.
I hope you enjoyed this post on my experience at Hallyu Town, if you did, leave a like and a comment if you want to see more! 😉
