Hi there,
I hope you have been well? Today’s post is about the show of the month: Bridgerton season 2! I often binge watch shows and I enjoy it so much that this month I finally decided to post reviews on the shows that I’m currently watching. I loved Bridgerton season 2 so much that I bingewatched the whole season in less than a day.
Bridgerton is an American television drama that is based on the novels written by Julia Quinn. The novel series exists out of 8 books. Each book explaining the story of one of the members of the Bridgerton family finding love. The show aired its first season in 2020. Season two debuted March, 25, 2022. The show exists of 8 episodes.
This review is solely based on the series, I haven’t read the novels yet, but I can’t wait to read those as well! You can watch the show on Netflix.
Bridgerton season 2: plot
This season tells the story of Anthony Bridgerton and his search for a wife. After deciding on who he was going to marry, there was only one person standing in the way of that marriage: the older sister Kate Sheffield. Throughout the season you will see how Anthony doesn’t take no for an answer and tries to get Kate’s approval which ends up being harder than he expected.
Characters
The character breakdown of this show is a little different from Bones, the last show I spoke about, because every season someone else is being put into the spotlight, but you do have recurring characters.
Let’s start with the Bridgerton siblings. They all have very different characters even though they are all siblings. What is interesting to note is that their position in the family influences their behaviour more than expected.
The cast of bridgerton season 2 exists of:

The reason why you should watch Bridgerton season 2
To be honest there are a lot of reasons why you should watch this show, and I genuinely don’t know where to start.
If you’re a hopeless romantic like me, this is your show. It’s not too direct, yet it’s not too long either, and it also doesn’t feel rushed.
In season 2 you get to see the importance of different aspects that come to play when it comes to love. It shows that there is a practical side to chosing your partner as well as a feelings side. Someone that pushes you to be better, and supports you when you need a hug.
Someone that you can trust for wisdom and advice. Someone that can take care of you and you can take care of them. Someone with which you can fight. What do you think are important aspects when it comes to love? Let me know in the comments!
Another reason why you have to watch second season of this show is if you’re a huge fan of the way love was found back in the day, then this is definitely a show you will enjoy to the fullest!! If you are intrigued by the concept of courting.
If you love the thought of going to a ball and there are no balls in your neighbourhood, well then this is a great way to experience one second hand! Do you also wish we had more balls in this day and age? Make sure to comment your thoughts on balls below!
The best part about this show is how good the actors are! Jonathan Bailey, who plays Anthony really put his heart and soul into this season. You can really sense the struggle of the feelings that are within his heart. The dynamic between Anthony and Kate, played by Simone Ashley is amazing. Every emotion, sensation, expression you can feel it as the audience, which is really amazing!
If you love unexpected expected plot twists then, yes, this is also a show for you! There are so many “obvious” twists and turns that can be relaxing, because you can predict what is coming, but there are also various unpredictable aspects to the show that make sure you don’t get bored while watching it!
If you love women empowerment in the work field, this is most definitely a show that you will enjoy!
As you will find both Eloise Bridgerton and Lady Whistledown, also known as Penelope Featherington, very progressive characters. Women a lot of us look up to and think alike sometimes.
Another good reason to watch the show is the bridgerton season 2 soundtracks are amazing!! I have been listening to the spotify playlist of all of the soundtracks for the past two weeks now! You will find the bridgerton spotify playlist here.
A final reason to watch this show is the representation in the show. This is one of the few shows with many ethnicities on which the focus isn’t discrimination, but you can see a more harmonious way of living, yes there are parts where you will see that there’s discrimination, but for once it isn’t the main focus of the story, which is really nice.
Is Bridgerton season 2 better than season 1?
Season 1 and 2 have very different vibes, both are really good. At first I found it hard to compare the two to each other, because there are so different, but after rewatching both of them after one another I realised that there is one that is quite a bit better than the other and the reasons why.
The vibe of season 1 is more like your typical fairytale story whilst the vibe of season 2 is more down to earth and has more relatability. The main characters of this season aren’t seen as golden people. Besides their high status, they have a reputation that isn’t spotless compared to the couple in season 1.
Because of the information that is out in the open about the couple, it felt less fake.
Due to Simon and Daphne being the Duke and Dutchess, there are many things about their relationship and emotions that stay behind closed doors. They had to fake their relationship for the most part in season one and when you compae it to the openness in season two and the way most things that were happening were in public or more in the open (even just between and within the families) it promoted being yourself more than season one.
The roles of being the eldest siblings in the family made it quite hard for them to always express their inner most thoughts and feelings, due to them spending most of their time trying their best to stay strong so that they can take care of the rest. Yet even then self expression was an option for the main couple of the season
Self expression was an option in season two. Kate had to fake some things to protect her sister and you’ll probably think that’s quite fake, but the parts that are being faked are explained later in the show and end up coming out in the open.
