Today I’m going to be talking about what to do in the midst of weakness.

Happy decisions

In life, one of the important things I’ve learnt is to always think before you act. I know, most people will mainly say this when you’re angry at a certain situation, but to be honest, it’s most important to think before you act when you’re happy.

Because when you’re happy you can make decisions based on the happy feelings rather than chosing the right thing.

Someone once told me to be careful of what you wish for. At that point I didn’t realize what he meant. I didn’t see that your worst nightmares are sometimes caused by your dreams. That you trying to find happiness in the now, could lead to more sorrow in the future that you can’t even imagine existing.

When it comes to making decisions it’s always important to make them based on wisdom and knowledge, instead of your feelings, because as you know your feelings change any moment. It’s important to make decisions with a goal in mind. A decision with a purpose. A decision that can move you further, so that in the midst of weakness, it still will make sense.

The consequences

 Whenever you make a decision in a happy state, it’s easy to think you can handle all the consequences, but sometimes life can throw a curve ball that you didn’t see coming. Those are usually the ones that take you out.

Whenever that happens, it’s easy to hate yourself. It’s easy to blame yourself and to end up in a pit filled with self-pity and sadness. It’s easy to stay in the whole you dug for yourself “trying” to find a way out, while the only way out is to face the repercussions of your actions. In the midst of weakness, staying in that pit might feel more comfortable at first, but trust me, that comfort doesn’t last. Usually you end up feeling empty, which causes even more pain.

Being honest with yourself, accepting that it happened and letting go of the hurt, is the fastest way to live on.

In the midst of weakness it’s easy to underestimate yourself. It’s easy to look down on yourself. It’s easy to make decisions out of desperation, but you should try to avoid making decisions when you’re feeling fearful.

You know, a lot of people underestimate the power that is within you, the voice in your head that tries to lead you the right way. Sometimes you just want to ignore it and go your own way, because of how you’re feeling in that moment, but trust me life is so much more than that one moment of desire. You have visions, dreams and goals that you want to achieve, don’t let those suffer, because of that one temporal feeling.

You do have the power to overcome whatever it is that is keeping you down at that moment. All you have to do is believe. Grab hold of your goals and don’t let go, don’t let the current struggles determine your next step, let your visions determine where you go next!

In the midst of weakness it’s important to remember that the one who can sacrifice their cravings of the now, can get the dream later in life.
